Katherine Grace Bond is the author of THE SUMMER OF NO REGRETS (Sourcebooks, 2012), and of the bestselling THE LEGEND OF THE VALENTINE (Zonderkidz, 2002) a story of the Civil Rights Movement.
A lifelong educator, Katherine has focused on teen writers since the early 90’s, believing that creative communities save lives. She is the creator of TEENWrite , an outdoor live action role-playing and writing community, where participants come as their characters. Modeled on the Hero’s Journey, TEENWrite holds quarterly overnights and a four-day event in August. Katherine also created the Teenage Novelist program at Bellevue College, Bellevue, WA.
Her work appears in numerous anthologies and journals, including Peculiar Pilgrims: Stories from Left Hand of God, ed. Linda Wendling (Hourglass Books), Arabesques, Beyond Magazine, and Margin: An Online Journal of Magical Realism. She has written prolifically for children’s magazines, and even wrote a comic strip, Noah Vale, for 2 1/2 years.
Katherine is a 2010 Jack Straw Writer, and the recipient of an upcoming writer’s residency at Camac Centre d’Art in Marnay-sur-Seine, France. Her secret life as an actor includes a degree in Drama from Seattle Pacific University, and performances with Woodinville Repertory Theatre, Northwest Savoyards, and as storyteller for the troupe, DreamWeavers.
She lives with her husband and children in Western Washington.
